Caldicot Castle's pre-season open day. This year's attractions include traditional Welsh recipes, living history and re-enactment. The Freemen of Gwent (talks, demos and have-a-go sessions), Meibion y Ddraig ~ Sons of the Dragon (talks on medieval Welsh archers with demonstrations).
Meet the bowmen and skilled archers of the Owain Glyndwr rebellion; Dr Steel (Works Doctor from Blaenavon Steelworks), meet the mid Victorian surgeon, learn about early anaesthetic, surgical supports and industrial diseases! A real laugh a minute.
Traditional Welsh Dance displays from local primary schools Welsh craft and producers market. Join Caldicot Brownies in a craft make-and-take workshop and follow a spring activity trail hunting for clues as you explore this medieval Welsh castle. Welsh Myths & Legends Storytelling.
Attend “Meet the Victorian School Mistress”, learn Welsh phrases and discover the struggle to keep Welsh alive when it was outlawed by the English. Listen to music with a Welsh flavour. Ideal Family Entertainment.
