Countryside Walk: Tintern & Penterry
Venue: From Tintern to Penterry and Gaer Hill Fort
Join Monmouthshire Countryside Service for this 5 mile (8km) walk through woods and fields to the ancient church at Penterry and on to Gaer Hill Fort with great views over the River Severn. Bring a packed lunch and a drink. Wear boots or stout shoes and bring a waterproof coat. Assistance dogs only please. Lots of stiles. 2 steep slopes on route.
Tintern is on the A466 between Monmouth and Chepstow. Take the turning next to the Royal George Hotel signposted “Raglan.” Park in the “Wireworks” car park on your right after 350 metres (SO 528 001).
