As the winners of Britain in Blooms large village category four times, Usk knows how to do presentation. And once again this year, you can get the chance to enjoy the gardens and foliage of Usk, with our Open Gardens Festival 2012.

A range of gardens will be opened up to the public to raise money for local charities. The open gardens will range from small, but carefully prepared cottage gardens to the grandeur of Usk Castle's gardens. Visitors will be able to see a variety of designs and planting and share the enthusiasm of the gardeners. All the gardens are within walking distance of the car parks, but there is a regular free, minibus service to take visitors to ones on the edge of town. There will also be a Gardeners Market with sales of plants and garden products to take home.

Usk is a small town, with a population of about 2500, which has achieved phenomenal success with its open gardens held at the end of June each year. Thanks to the generosity of the residents who open their gardens more than £160,000 has been raised for local charities over the years.

The town has also become renowned for its success in the Britain in Bloom and Wales in Bloom competitions, winning many times. During the summer it is awash with floral displays, planters, and hanging baskets, organised by Usk in Bloom, which visitors can enjoy.

It is hoped that the visitors will come and be inspired and will find ideas for their own gardens, whatever their interests.
