Festival of the Arts

Venue: St Mary's Priory Church

There will be lunchtime recitals from a string quartet, a renowned organist and a world-class baritone; plus storytelling for under-eights by an internationally-known storyteller and author. Evening concerts include the annual concert from the Abergavenny Borough Band (with proceeds going to the Band); a children's concert performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; and the Gala Concert with the Welsh Sessions Orchestra, St Mary's choir, the choral scholars from St Peter's, Ruthin, and soloists. Exhibitions range from fine art and ceramics to photography and quilts from Vicky Glyn, who recently exhibited at the V&A. The festival will open with a Champagne Reception for invited guests and Friends of the Festival. And, of course, there will be wonderful worship - choral Evensong with St Mary's choir, Welsh Camerata and St Peter's Collegiate choir, Ruthin; as well as Festival Eucharist, celebrant and preacher the Rt Rev'd Dominic Walker, Bishop of Monmouth. The events end with the Festival lunch on the Sunday, complete with jazz band.
