The Owain Glyndwr was set up by The Sleeping Giant Foundation in 2005 as a way of celebrating the talent of people living in the Swansea valley, increasing tourism and economy and as a way of educating and highlighting our history and culture. We chose Owain Glyndwr to represent our Festival as he was Wales' greatest Prince who still inspires people to this day. He knew that Wales held creative, artistic, musical, forward thinking people as we do today.

The NATIONAL WOOLLEN MUSEUM is delighted to be present at the Llandovery Sheep Festival. The Museum's quest is to show the journey from fleece to fabric and our stand at the Sheep Festival will feature activities and products that help illustrate this story. Mae'n bleser gan Amgueddfa Wlân Cymru i fod yn rhan o Wyl Ddefaid Llanymddyfri. Prif bwrpas yr Amgueddfa yw i ddangos y daith o'r ddafad i ddefnydd ac mi fydd ein stondin yn yr Wyl Ddefaid yn cynnwys gweithgareddau a chynnyrch sy'n helpu i ddarlunio'r stori hon.

The Drovers' Trail over Mynydd Mallaen It is estimated that the walk will take around three hours. The route we have chosen follows an authentic Drovers' Trail eastwards and upwards from the hamlet of Cwrt-y-Cadno (Foxes' Court) over the open moorland plateau of Mynydd Mallaen and then down to the village of Cilycwm (Corner of the Valley). Cwrt-y-Cadno was a gathering point, where smaller herds would join together into one big unit of up to four hundred beasts for the arduous drive across the mountain. In the street at Cilycwm the pebble-lined gutters where the animals would slake their thirst on arrival may still be seen: at the end of our journey, walkers will hopefully have time themselves for a refreshing glass of ale and a ploughman's in the Neuadd Arms.
