Countryside Walk: Portskewett
@ Crossing to the other side
Join Monmouthshire Countryside Service for this fascinating 3.5 mile (5.5 km) walk back through history. Find out about historical river crossings, the history of the Severn Railway Tunnel, ancient burial site and much more! Wear boots or stout shoes and bring a waterproof coat. Dogs on short leads permitted. A few stiles, flat route.
Leave the A48 (T) old road from Chepstow to Newport at a large roundabout 2.5 miles (4 km) west of Chepstow following the sign “Caldicot 3, Magor 7 (Portskewett 2).” Very shortly turn left along the road signed “Portskewett 2, Sudbrook 3.” On reaching the outskirts of Portskewett turn down Black Rock Road (signed “Black Rock Picnic and Lave Net Fishery Site”). Black Rock Picnic Site car park is at the end of the road on your right (ST 512 881).
